Sudha Manian - Sitar Artist `Mrs. Sudha Manian started her Hindustani Classical Sitar` `Training at the age of 11. Her initial Sitar training was under` `Sri G.V Sreeramulu in Hyderabad.` `Sudha also learned classical Indian dancing Bhartanatyam and studied for Chartered Accountancy in India.` `Sudha holds masters degrees in Music; and dance` `awarded by Gandharva Maha-Vidyalaya Meerut. Sudha` `performed on the All India Radio (Hyderabad) for four` `years and participated in the yearly Paluskar Jayanti` `and won a number of music competitions. Sudha is a CPA working as a Finance Manager,` `living in Birsbane.` The Sitar is an extremely popular Indian string instrument. It has a rich cultural heritage with its origin goes back to the ancient Veena. It has been in use for about 700 years. The sitar uses sympathetic strings along with a long hollow neck and a gourd resonating chamber to produce a very rich sound with complex harmonic resonance an it is predominantly used in Hindustani classical music.
